Bring it on Bhajji

After a comfortable 8 wicket win over the Chennai Super kings, we are now on top of the table! After 5 matches so far, its been good going with good all round performance by the team.

Having said that, let's not ignore an important change. The coming to form of Harbhajan Singh. I have been looking at his performance closely and like me, the team has been under tremendous pressure to understand the reason for his poor performance so far. His performance last night was stellar. I believe he is striking form at the right time and in the right trend too. Bhajji's performance against the Super Kings was the highlight of the match for me. Bhajji must be very relieved as much as the rest of us!

This was a revenge match. And its a big relief that the match went our way. The Super Kings have been wobbly of late having lost the previous 2 matches. But lets not forget that the southern team has some of the best players in the world and had beaten us in the final last year. So in many ways, this was sweet revenge.

One player that did not get the attention he deserved is Kieron Pollard. I think he played one of the most impactful roles in the match yesterday. His spectacular dives saved at least 12 runs and his catch to dismiss Hussey was for me the best catch of the match. It is always difficult to catch in and around the crease and in this case several feet in front of the fielder. It is extremely difficult to judge the flight and speed of the ball in that position. So I was a bit surprised that Rohit Sharma was awarded the prize for the Karbonn Kamaal Katch.

Lets not take away any credit from Rohit Sharma. He played a big innings with maturity. It is the mix of shots that was really impressive. He paced his innings extremely well. From building the base after the early wickets to some really aggressive shots towards the middle and end of the innings.

So how does the future look ahead? I think the team is peaking well. The overall spirit in strong and you can see it in the body language. The team is probably one of the best in the area of fielding, batting and fielding. Its been a super start and the team is getting better with every other match.
